So sorry to hear. Rod was a wonderful man. My husband and I were the cartakers for his home on Bennett Point. It was our first home together. We were young then and Rod was such a blessing to us. We both admired him and respected him. I will always cherish the conversations. Where he shared his knowledge and experiences with us. He also shared his beautiful, peace home. Rod loved life and all it had to offer. My sympathy to his family

Will miss Rodney. He insured many of the condos and HOA's I managed starting in the late 1970's. From that we became friends and I sailed with him and snow skied. He liked to stay active. He was always fun and interesting to be with.

We lost a good man and a good friend. Rest In Peace Rodney.

Rodney Thompson was my wife Kathy's first employer after I brought her to Maryland in 1973. She was all alone, new to the area, and completely nervous. Rodney was welcoming, sincere, calm, reassuring--exactly what Kathy needed. She and Rodney had an excellent working relationship, and he encouraged us both to become part of the Thompson family. She felt that Rodney's office was her second home, a safe place. Her years there--and Rodney's gracious extending his 'family' to include us both--will forever be remembered. Rodney Thompson was a superb businessman, and an even better person.

Rodney was an old school Agent, he would do anything to help his fellow agent succeed. Always full of advice and wisdom, Rodney was truly a Renaissance Man. Banker, Landlord, Agent, hunter, Waterman, Rodney did it all and knew it all well. I remember visiting Rodney at his home in Queenstown, I realized what brought him to this place, a gem of a home. He deserved all that he had.
Rodney helped make State Farm great with his care of the community and the agents who he helped along the way!
Rodney and my memories of him will be missed.

We will so miss Rod. We knew Rod and Jan from the Prospect Bay Country Club. Rod was also the Commodore of the Prospect Bay Yacht Club in 2006. Jan and Rod were active members of the Club and Golf. We will definitely miss his smiling and outgoing personality at the Club.

Rodney and I were in Hawaii sitting under an Umbrella stand discussing everything except insurance. He mentioned it would be a great afternoon to sail and watch the sunset on Maui Bay. I told him that I never had sailed and he smiled and said " Well, we are going sailing then" and off we went in a convertible to the marina. I will always remember the sound of the water hitting the hull, the snap of the sails and the sweet beat of the sail crank. He stood behind the helm with this large steering wheel with a smile larger than Texas. The wind danced through his hair. He was in love with the water and sailing. Later he put on this classic straw hat which only made his smile wider. I was a young agent who he took under his wing. I am grateful for his advice, I am a better person for knowing him. I have not sailed since....I doubt that I ever will. I could never duplicate those few hours aboard that boat with Rodney as they have given me years or memories.
