My deepest sympathy to the family on the lost of your dear husband and father. I've known Delaine personally since being appointed to the Carroll Community College Board of Trustees and found him to be cordial but stern in his beliefs while maintaining an air of decorum. He will be missed.

Sincerely
Diane Foster

My deepest condolences to the entire Hobbs family. I only wish I could have meant as much to Delaine as he meant to me. Several Christmas mornings Delaine joined my family when my brothers and I were young and shared the joy of opening gifts, some of which he brought for us. Delaine served as a mentor to me when I became of age to join the fire company. We ran many ambulance calls together back in the day. He always seemed to be the steadying force when I was not sure of what the next move needed to be on an incident. Delaine set the straight and narrow course for many of us when we were young members of the MAVFC. He made sure we wanted to be a part of the carnival, dances, dinners, etc. as well as the calls for assistance. What would the Town of Mount Airy be without his guiding hand on the water and sewer systems? His knowledge and responsiveness to matters of the town infrastructure were amazing. Thanks Delaine for being the strong leader you were, and thanks to the Hobbs family for sharing him with us.

Delaine Hobbs was the Photographer at my wedding with Pat Stull on June 8, 1963 and the reception at the Dan Dee Country Inn on Route 40 West. He was very professional and very reasonable with the wedding album. I was the Yearbook Photographer in 1959 at St. Johns Prospect Hall High School and Pat was the Capt. of the Cheerleaders. As the years have progressed, I have followed Delaine and his life but I did not know how active a life,, He had. May he rests in Peace!
