Mrs. Betty Lee Stanley Gilliss, 90, of Woodbine, Maryland, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at Lorien Mount Airy.

She was the wife of James William Gilliss, who preceded her in death in 2013. They were married 68 years.Born March 9, 1926, in Damascus, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Daphne Marie and Charles Edgar Stanley.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Marie Smith, and her husband Todd, of Monrovia; and Patti Lee Mathes, and husband David of Damascus; and two grandchildren, Richard F. DeBlasio of Pittsburgh, PA; Melissa A. Payne of Harpers Ferry, WV., and one sister, Ada Bell Kessler of Damascus. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Johnson, and one brother, Kenneth Stanley .

She was a housewife, member of Montgomery United Methodist Church in Damascus, a charter member of the Damascus Travel Club, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Friends may call 3- 5 and 7- 9 p.m. Friday June 17, at Molesworth-Williams P.A. Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday June 18, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Montgomery United Methodist Cemetery.
