Warner B. Clipper, Sr. Obituary

Warner Bernard Clipper Sr., 73 of Damascus, MD passed away peacefully at his home on Monday 12/2/2024 after battling cancer.

Warner, who was best known as WC, was born on May 23, 1951, to Arthur Glen Clipper and Julia Mae DuVall in Bethesda, MD.  WC was raised in Seneca, MD but throughout the years moved to Prince George's County and would eventually settle down in Damascus, MD.

WC was passionate about reaching beyond the status quo and was relentless when chasing his dreams.  One of WC's big accomplishments was receiving his GED back in the early 2000's.  It was a treasured achievement that he held close to his heart.

WC started working at the early age of 14.  In 1971, WC started working at Market Tire in Rockville, MD which would spark his passion for the automotive business.  From there, WC went to work at Metro fleet until the early 1980's.  After years of working for others, he finally pursued his career goal of owning his own business and launched W.C. Tire in 1983. With understanding what it takes to run a business, WC wanted to expand, and he always dreamed of owning a limousine company.  So, after a few years opening W.C. Tire, WC and his father-in-law opened B&C Limousine.  The success of WC Tire would eventually expand to opening a brick and mortar in 1987 in Damascus on Lewis Drive.  W.C. Automotive and B&C Limousine would continue to service the Montgomery County area including the DMV area with the support of his son Bucky who worked alongside WC for over 15 years.  WC then transitioned into MCPS as a bus driver starting in 2005.  WC would work for Coughlin Transportation during the summer months and even when he retired from MCPS in 2014, he continued to work at Coughlin Transportation until 2020.

In 1970, WC met Cindy on a blind date and have been in love ever since.  After two years of dating and distance between them throughout the years, their love for each other was inevitable and they married on June 30, 1972.  WC and Cindy went on to have 2 children, Bucky, and Kristina and in 1991 would adopt Rayshell at the age of 4.

The Clipper family would move to Damascus in the late 1970's.  WC, also known by many as the "Mayor of Damascus" had a huge influence on the community and would always put everyone else's needs before his own.  WC loved to be around people, enjoyed spending time with his family, would always be outside doing yard work, and had an infectious personality that everyone wanted to be around.  From coaching football for the Damascus Sports Association, talking to neighbors as they drove past, being a likeable bus driver, or just being the life of the party WC has left an impact on anyone that has had the honor to meet him.

WC is survived by Cindy Clipper (wife), Bucky Clipper (son), Allyson Clipper (daughter-in-law), Kristina Batchelor (daughter), Derrick Batchelor (son-in-law), Rayshell McGraw (daughter), Robert McGraw (son-in-law). Granddaughter Kylee Batchelor (14), and Grandson’s Mason Clipper (7), Maxwell Clipper (6), Preston McGraw (2), Barrett McGraw (5 months), Patricia Snowden (sister), Harold Clipper (brother), Gregory Prather (brother), Marilyn Matthews (sister), Juanta Prather (sister).
