Stephen Routh, 68, of Damascus, Maryland, died peacefully at home on Dec. 10, 2025, after living with brain cancer for two years. 

He was born on July 24, 1957, to Donald and Ruth Routh in Norwood, New Jersey. 

Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maryann Routh; his son, Eric Routh (married to Karley Routh, with daughters Skylar and Sloane); his daughter, Jennifer George (married to Daniel George, with daughters Chloe and Kate); his son, Daniel Routh (married to Kelsey Routh, with daughter Jolie); and his siblings, Scott, Sandra and Sherril. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Stuart Routh. 

Steve attended Penn State University and studied nuclear engineering, earning a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. He later earned his M.B.A. from Mount St. Mary’s University. He spent the majority of his career working at Bechtel, retiring in 2021. Steve enjoyed doing home projects, going to the beach with his family, and playing, coaching and watching sports. 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd., Damascus, MD. Funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m., also at the funeral home. The Rouths invite friends and family to a reception at 3 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2025, at Brookeville Beer Farm. 

Memorial donations in Steve’s memory may be directed to the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon ("THON"), which raises funds for childhood cancer at Penn State Children’s Hospital.
