Rita Alona Beaudet Olsen, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, surrounded by her daughters at her residence at Brookeville House in Brookeville, Maryland. After suffering a stroke in January of 2022, Rita moved to the assisted living facility from her home in Fulton, Maryland. Confined to her bed and wheelchair for much of the past three years, her health had declined in recent months. She was receiving hospice care at the time of her passing.

Rita leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and joy, which she generously shared through her many artistic talents, including painting, cake decorating, and flower arranging. Her greatest gift of all was the love she gave as a mom and grandma. She is survived by her daughters, Tina Morris (Albert), Diane Olsen, and Lisa Dawson (John), as well as her sisters, Kathryn Beaudet and Phyllis Downing (Richard). Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Jessica (Zachary), Kimberly (Allan), Joshua, and Jason, and her great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Samantha, Wade, Jace, and Nicodemus. Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Jerry Frederick Olsen.

Her loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, January 16th at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.

Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
