Rickey D. Ward

Rickey Dean Ward, 63, of Damascus, Maryland, died April 26, 2020 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after an extended illness. He was the loving husband of Mary Ward.  They shared 27 years of marriage together.

Born in Baltimore City, MD, he was the son of Roscoe and Virginia Ward. Rickey spent almost 20 years in the Navy, working as an aviation mechanic. Upon retirement in 1993, he completed a Bachelors of Science at University of Maryland University College. Rickey then spent several years as a stay-at-home dad with his 3 young children. He spent the rest of his professional life as a bus driver for MCPS and BarT.

Rickey was an advocate for veterans and a member of the DAV and American Legion.  He was truly the kindest of men.  Anyone he met became his friend, it was hard to resist his talkative, open, and gentle nature. He had a deep love for all of his family and was especially proud of his three children.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children Shannon Adkins (Barry), Ross Ward, and Hannah Ward, his siblings Ron Ward (Linda), Charlene Wolf (Steve), and Mark Ward (Cindi) and cousins Sharon Lindstrand (Eric), Randy Schools (Barbara), and Linda Schools-Ayers (John), and many other cousins as well as multiple nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Roscoe and Virginia Ward.
