Owen G. Bromley Obituary

 It is with great sadness, the family of Owen G. “Jerry” Bromley announces his passing from this life on November 29, 2025, in Mt. Airy, Maryland. He was born on January 14, 1944, in Washington, D.C., to his parents the late Owen Paul Bromley and Mildred Anna Seville Bromley.


Jerry is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Carole Ann Lavezzo Bromley. Carole and Jerry were married on May 23, 1963. He is also survived by his daughter, Lynn Marie Bromley Rainis (Ed) of Brunswick, Maryland, and his son, Owen Michael Bromley, of Mt. Airy, Maryland.


Jerry leaves behind five grandchildren who brought him great joy:


Holly Rainis Brindley (Alex) of Brunswick, Maryland;


Joseph Rainis (Alison) of Newark, Delaware;


Joseph Owen Bromley of Mt. Airy, Maryland;


Michael James Bromley of Mt. Airy, Maryland;


and Katie Lynn Bromley of Mt. Airy, Maryland.


He is also survived by two beloved great-grandchildren: Max Brindley and John Rainis.


Jerry joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1962 and served until 1970, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He began his distinguished career with the Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department in 1966 and faithfully served the community until his retirement in 1993 as Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Chief of Police. He was a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, earning his Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in law enforcement.


Visitation with his family will be held on Friday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, Maryland 20838, where A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 noon.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The church pavilion will be open for those who choose not to attend the burial, and lunch will be served.


Contributions in honor of Col. Bromley may be made to the Montgomery County Police Alumni Association, PO Box 431, Damascus, Maryland.
