Norman D. Ifert Obituary

Norman Daniel Ifert, age 81, of Colorado and formerly of Damascus, Md., a son of the late Jonathan L. Ifert and Nellie Marie Hines Chaney.  He was born July 11, 1943, and died January 30, 2025. Known to friends in Maryland as "Danny", he is survived by wife, Anna Norwood Ifert, and daughters Danette (Steven Johnson) and Sandy (Matthew Jewell). He was grandfather to: Amanda, Daniel, and Madalynn Jewell; Christopher and Grace Johnson. Also surviving are stepmother Betty G. Ifert and brothers Jonathan L. Ifert, Jr. (Donna) and David Chaney. He was predeceased by his uncle and aunt, Noah and Emily Ifert, who raised him on their Damascus farm.

He graduated from Damascus High School in 1962. After returning from service in the United States Air Force, he worked as a firefighter at the Bethesda Fire Department and part-time at Gladhill Brothers and Thomas Woodfield in Damascus. He was a member of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered for several years with the Frederick Pony Club.

Danny has chosen to be cremated. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Damascus Methodist Cemetery, 9800 Rear Main Street, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  Reverend Phillip Ayres will officiate.
