Meredith “Al” Hawker Alexander, Jr., 86, of Winston Salem, NC passed peacefully into Heaven on March 11,2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda McElfresh Alexander his wife of 43 years and his second wife of 15 years, the late Ann “Sue” Joyce Alexander.   Born February 16, 1939, in Frederick, Maryland, a son of the late Meredith Hawker Alexander Sr. and late Mary Martha Booker Alexander. 

He is survived by two daughters Jennifer (Joe) Hedinger and Sheila (Jon) Roark and four granddaughters Megan Hendrickson, Allison Dubs, Aleah Hedinger and Kendall Roark, one great grandson Kason Corey Hendrickson and one great granddaughter Selah Lynn Dubs. He is also survived by two stepsons Jeff (Christy) Joyce and Steve Joyce and 6 step grandchildren Zachary Joyce, Madison Spivey, Lindsay Joyce, Corey Joyce, Kayla Joyce and Emma Joyce. He is also survived by two sisters Mary Sturm and Shandron Sturm.

He is preceded in death by a brother Jay Alexander.

Al enjoyed a long professional career in Information Systems Technology in health care systems to include Montgomery General Hospital, Georgetown University Medical Center and Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in addition several consulting projects in his semi-retirement and retirement.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, and enjoyed golf, and bowling. He also loved to play his trombone with The Browningsville Cornet Community Band and Washington Redskin Marching Band.

He will be remembered by his ability to persevere and his sense of humor in addition to his love of faith, family and friends.

The family is sincerely grateful for his faith family at Oak Forest UMC and his community of Millers Creek.

The family will receive friends at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home 26401 Ridge Rd, Damascus, MD 20872 on Saturday, April 12 from10:00 until 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow.
