Marilyn Hill Obituary

Marilyn R. Hill, 74, of New Market, MD passed away on Sunday, August 07, 2022. Beloved wife of the late James “Jimbo” Hill.  Mother of Heather Goslin. Grandmother of David Nicholas Lozupone and Zachary Joseph Lozupone. Marilyn is also survived by her sisters, Marion Bridges and Jamie Dodson of Pennsylvania.

Marilyn was born in Roaring Springs, PA. She was the middle child of James and Opal Dodson. Growing up she loved visiting her grandmother’s farm, riding her bike, and eating fresh tomatoes off the vine. From an early age she had the ability to turn the simplest of things into great adventures. She loved spending time with her family, taking beach vacations, and making lifelong memories. Every trip, big or small, was made special by her loving efforts and always included shopping - lots of shopping.

The day her Heather was born was a day she would never forget, nor let anyone else forget, especially Heather. Talking about her challenging birth became a humorous birthday tradition the whole family endured. The bond between them was immeasurable. Her fondest memories were planned Friday nights with strawberry ice cream and Gidget on the VCR, weekends at the roller-skating rink, shopping sprees, and celebrating each of her daughter’s milestones.

When her grandsons Nick and Zack were born, they became the focus of her whole world, and they could do no wrong. She loved spoiling them, celebrating them, and made sure there was homemade mac and cheese, and vanilla cake on every occasion.  When they were young, she loved taking them to Boyd’s Bears in Gettysburg, PA every Christmas. She cherished every moment with them.

Marilyn met and married her great love Jim, “Jimbo” “Big Hon” in 1996. They had 10 wonderful years together full of day trips, weekend excursions, and time at their beach house. Jim made sure she knew, and everyone knew, that he would move mountains to make her happy, and he did just that.  He gave her the world. This is also the time in her life she earned the endearing nickname of “Diva” and she made sure to fully embrace this title.

Marilyn was a strong-willed, determined, and loving woman. She spent years working in sales for W.A. Hamilton Company. A job that gave her the opportunity to visit important places, including the White House. She was an advocate, loyal friend, and loving family member. She always spoke her mind and would fight any injustice. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a volunteer with the Child Advocacy Center of Frederick County, and a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church.

Marilyn was very loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
