Sadly, Kathleen “Kitty” Tobin Graves, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2021.
Always robust, Kitty was the first of six children born to Irish immigrants Kathleen and Patrick Tobin in Bronx, New York. The couple ultimately settled in Chevy Chase, Maryland where they raised five children. Kathleen attained graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Maryland and taught elementary school for more than 30 years. She continued to tutor children well into retirement; was a lifelong learner; read voraciously and traveled extensively.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Gerard Graves (Carol) of Rockville, MD; Julia Reneau (Paul) of Palm Beach, FL; Harold Graves, III, (Coumba) of Gaithersburg, MD, Daniel Graves (Jennie) of Short Hills, NJ; and Mary Schueler (Charles) of Pasadena, MD. She is also survived by thirteen grand-children, eight great grand-children, and siblings William Tobin of Seattle, WA, Mary Rita Sheehan (Jeremiah) of Vero Beach, FL, Peter Tobin of Scottsdale, AZ, and Gail Parmentier (Michael) of Vienna, VA.
Kathleen was pre-deceased by her husband Harold, her sister Patricia Littlejohn, and her great grandson Joseph Mohler.
