Janie Marie Bishop Obituary

Janie Marie Bishop, 64, of Mount Airy, MD passed away at home, surrounded by family, on January 5, 2025, after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Janie was born on June 6th, 1960, in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter of Rev. Franklin D. Bishop and the late Mary (Custer) Bishop. Janie is survived by her father, her sisters Pamela (Bishop) Sier and Melissa Bishop-Bryant (Glenn Bryant), her nieces Ashley Sier and Lindsay Sier, and nephew Simon Bryant. She is also survived by her childhood friend, Nancy Caldwell of New Castle, PA.
Janie graduated from Neshannock High school (New Castle, PA) in 1978. After high school, she began a life-long career in the medical field working mostly in Ophthalmology offices. She took great pride in providing compassion, care and unwavering dedication to patients. Janie loved to bowl and was a Steelers fan. In recent years, she enjoyed looking through magazines, picking blueberries, and watching birds at the feeder. Janie was a member of the Howard Chapel-Ridgeville United Methodist Church.



Friends will be received on Thursday, January 9th, at 12:00pm at the Howard Chapel-Ridgeville United Methodist Church, 1970 Long Corner Rd., Mt. Airy, MD. 21771, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. James McSavaney will officiate. Interment will be at the Howard Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Howard Chapel Cemetery c/o Mary Frances Gosnell, 1674 Florence Road, Mt. Airy, Maryland 21771, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or your favorite charity.
