Helen M. Reyes

Helen May Reyes passed away peacefully at her home on August 14th, 2023. Born to Robert and Catherine Smith on January 5th, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York where she was raised. 

 In 1964 Helen married Frederick A. Reyes who she met on a blind date. The couple had two children (Fred & Jeanine) and moved from New York to Damascus, Maryland in 1975 where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their lives. Helen was devoted to taking care of her family and friends while building a loving home where all were welcome. Helen was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and was one of the original members and Secretary of the 50+ club. Helen enjoyed trips to the beach, listening to Barry Manilow, visiting family and friends and long talks with her sister Eileen several times a day.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Frederick A Reyes, parents Robert and Catherine Smith, brother Robert Smith, brother-in-law Robert O’Connor. She is survived by her son Fred (Kris) Reyes, daughter Jeanine Reyes, sister Eileen O’Connor, brother-in-law Peter Reyes and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872, on Sunday, August 27, 5:00 to 8:00p.m.

Funeral services will be held at St Paul Catholic Church 9250 Damascus Rd, Damascus, MD 20872 on Monday, August 28 at 11:00am.  Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
