EDMOND HAMILTON RHODES, JR.

Edmond Hamilton Rhodes, Jr. passed peacefully into eternal life supported with his family's love and prayers on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Kline Hospice House. Edmond was born December 6,1936 in Washington D.C. to Edmond Hamilton Rhodes, Sr. and Gladys Louise Jordan Rhodes.

Surviving is his wife Joyce Elaine Warfield Rhodes of 65 years, married on February 13, 1960.  The marriage was blessed by three sons - Mark Hamilton Rhodes, wife Sharon Hilton Rhodes, Kenneth David Rhodes, wife Sherry Smith Rhodes, Wayne Patrick Rhodes, wife Kimberly Hairfield Rhodes.  Edmond was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patricia Rhodes Mowry, brother John Clinton Rhodes, son Wayne Patrick Rhodes, and grandson Matthew Hamilton Rhodes.

Graduating from Damascus High School Class of 1955, Edmond pursued a career in plumbing, heating, general contracting, and Custom Home Building.  He was President of Rhodes Construction Company, Inc. enjoying working with his three sons daily providing personal service and high-quality workmanship while forming many long lasting customer relationships.  He also loved restoring antique cars. Edmond was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and cherished his family.  He felt so blessed to be with his "boys" every day - on the job - in the shop - or at the morning breakfast/discussion time. 

In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by second Mother Dorothy Virginia Cordell Rhodes, age 103, and brothers Thomas Rhodes and Michael Rhodes.  Also survived by grandchildren Ashley Elizabeth Rhodes Williams and husband Kevin Williams of Lexington, North Carolina, Timothy Wayne Rhodes and wife Ashley Wilson Rhodes, Monrovia, Maryland. Great grandchildren Kennedy Jeanne Williams, Berkley Elizabeth Williams, Remington Leigh Rhodes and River Wayne Rhodes. 

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 A.M. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Montgomery United Methodist Church 28325 Kemptown Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  A service of thanks to God for Edmond's life will follow at 11 A.M. with Pastor Andy McClain officiating. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, Maryland 21771 or to the Memorial Fund of Montgomery United Methodist Church.
