Dylan F. Laforce

DYLAN FOREST LAFORCE (June 11, 1994 – April 1, 2023)

          Dylan was born on June 11, 1994, in Santa Monica, California, to Tina and Doug LaForce.  Their first child, Dylan was born the day before his mother’s birthday, June 12th.  In his first year of life, Dylan logged more than 32,000 air miles while traveling back and forth from Los Angeles to the D.C. area, in order to visit his grandparents, Dr. Forest Windham Horton, Jr. (“Opa”), and Karin J. Horton (“Oma”).  He was profiled in an article of “Bob Levey’s Washington” in the Washington Post which noted that Tina’s 20,000 air miles as a toddler had also been the subject of a newspaper article in the Post (history repeating itself).

          As a boy, Dylan played soccer and basketball, took music lessons and karate lessons, and was a Boy Scout for a short time.  Dylan attended Damascus High School (“DHS”) from 2008 to 2011, and graduated from Poolesville High School in 2012.  At DHS, Dylan was a National Merit Commended Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society, and was awarded a DHS Scholar Award and AP Scholar with Honor Award.  He was a member of the DHS Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Marching Band and played the Trumpet and French Horn.

          Dylan was admitted to the Honors College of Towson University in the fall of 2012 and he attended Towson University from 2012-2014.  His major was Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics.  He later also took classes at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD., and worked at various jobs throughout the ensuing years. 

          In August of 2021, Dylan was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, Desmoplastic Round Cell Tumor.  He passed away on April 1, 2023, at the age of 28 years old.

          Dylan had a passion for gaming, collecting books, music, food, going to the beach, and he enjoyed trips with his family to Catoctin Mountain State Park in Thurmont, MD.

          Dylan is survived by his parents, his two sisters (Dana and Allison LaForce), and a daughter, Sophia Rosalie LaForce.
