Dwight Ronald Childs, 73, of Damascus, MD, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1951, and grew up in Rockville, MD.
Dwight was a loving husband to Leslie Otterson Childs for over 43 years and a devoted, proud father to his daughters, Caitlyn, Jamie and Molly. He was a wonderful Granddad, adored by his 7 grandchildren and held a special bond with his three son-in-law's, David, Dale, and Dan. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert and Juanita and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Childs. A skilled craftsman and sheet metal mechanic by trade, Dwight worked for the Architect of the Capitol for 30 years.
Dwight was deeply loved by his family, who were his greatest joy. He was a gifted and talented artist that could create and fix anything. He enjoyed listening to the blues and working on his classic cars. Dwight had a special way of making everyone he met feel seen and cared for. He was the most selfless, kind, genuine, loyal man. He was one-of-a-kind.
A celebration of life to honor and remember Dwight will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dwight's honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Dwight will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
