Christy Ann Smith, 69, of Damascus, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. She was the wife of the late Fred Constantino Smith and daughter of the late William Hoffman McCullen.
She is survived by her mother, Cheryl McCullen; daughter Alison Smolinski and grandchildren Lucy and Eliot, son in law Christopher; and sisters Kim McCullen Walter and Shari McCullen Krantz.
In addition, she was deeply loved and known as Aunt T by nephews Wesley and Casey Marshall, and Griffin Walter; nieces Kristyn Curran and Bethany Weber; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Christy was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and graduated from Gaithersburg High School and Garland College in Boston, Massachusetts. She spent her adult life and career pursuing her passion for working with young children at Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten, where she was a beloved teacher for 39 years. She was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Damascus for many decades and found great comfort in the friendship and support of her fellow parishioners.
A Memorial Funeral Service will take place at 11am, Saturday, February 8 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD 20872. A luncheon in Christy’s honor will be held at the church following the service.
