Charla M. Smith

Charla Marie Smith, age 63, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, died Friday, August 13, 2021 at Hospice of the Upstate.  She was the wife of the late William Wesley Smith, Jr.

She was born Nov. 7, 1957 in Whitney Point, New York a daughter of Walter ”Chic” Charles Rideout and Kitty Rideout, of Albemarle, North Carolina.

Surviving besides her parents are her brother Walter Lee Rideout and wife Sonya; sisters in law Cynthia Smith and Cynthia Duranko both of Frederick, and Barbara Lewis and husband Greg of Pickens, South, Carolina.  Nieces and nephews include Jessica Haines and husband Jonathan, John Lewis, Jr. and wife Rachel, Wesley Lewis and Jenna Duranko.  Grandnieces and nephews Isaac Haines, Kathryn Haines and Annalisa Lewis; Uncle Bruce Meeks and his wife Carol in New York, and beloved friends Karin Westberg Kiltz and Shirley Westberg.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Wesley Smith, Jr., her mother Marinez Rideout; mother-in-law Hazel Smith and father-in-law William Wesley Smith, Sr.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 24, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral services begin at 11:00 a.m. Anyone attending will be required to wear a mask or adequate face covering while inside the building.  Interment will be in Neelsville Presbyterian Cemetery, Germantown, Maryland.
