Calista B. Umberger

Mrs. Calista Butt Umberger, 95, of Urbana, died on Saturday, April 22, 2023. She was the wife of the late Samuel Umberger, who died Sept. 4, 2002.

Born near Travilah, MD on January 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Raymond O. and Ethel L. Butt.  She is survived by two daughters, Diana Krop and husband John, of Urbana and Donna Rae Magruder and husband Steve, of Virginia Beach.

Grandchildren: Scott Moreland, Chris Moreland and wife Desiree, Julie Redmond and husband Cliff, Jeremy Magruder and wife Brandy, and Jason Magruder and wife Kristin, and Kenny Santmier.

Great grandchildren: Destiny Moreland Helser and husband Tim, Jessica and Katelyn Moreland, Amelia Thompson Jefferson and husband Terence, Stephanie Moreland Hahn and husband Robert, Abby Moreland, and Hailey and Kyle Redmond.

Great great grandchildren: Wesley, Ellie, and Maisie Redman, Aurora Helser; Lucas and Easton, Andrew and Brelynn Magruder

One brother Bradley Butt and wife Connie of Hanover, PA, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in law JoAnn Umberger and Pat Umberger Pleasants.

Friend and loving caregiver:  Helen Burdette

She was predeceased in death by brothers, Raymond, Donald and Archie Butt and a sister, Betty Jane Sadtler.

She was a member of the Germantown Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School/Bible Studies for over 50 years.  She retired as Assistant Chief Deputy after 31 years of service from the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery Co., MD.

She enjoyed flower gardening and reading.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, April 27 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD. 20872

Services will be held on Friday, 11 AM, Friday April 28 at Germantown Baptist Church, 17640 Riffleford Road, Germantown with Pastors Robert Walker and Mike Yoho officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to services.  Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeremy and Jason Magruder, Scott and Chris Moreland, Cliff Redmond and Tim Helser.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Julie Redmond, Steve and Bobby Sadtler, Don, Mark and Ryan Butt

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Germantown Baptist Church and/or First Baptist Church of Green Valley, 11402 Ridge Lane, Monrovia, Md.
