Betty J. Pheobus Obituary

Betty Jane Pheobus, age 86, passed away on the morning of October 16, 2022 after an ongoing battle with cancer and failing health.

Born in Maryland in 1936, Betty grew up on a Northern Maryland farm surrounded by a large family. Later, she would tell her grandchildren many farm stories about caring for animals, picking bushels and bushels of blueberries with her siblings, and how all her work on the farm as a teenager made her stronger than all her classmates.

Betty is predeceased by her husband John. They were married for 65 years. They settled with their four sons in Prince George's county where they lived for the next 58 years.

Betty brought the farm with her wherever she went with her love of gardening, growing vegetables, fruit, herbs, and flowers, especially her beloved passion flowers. She managed to raise chickens in her suburban yard much to the dismay of her neighbors. Betty loved to cook and frequently showered her friends and family with extravagant meals and desserts. Meals will not be the same without her.

Betty is survived by her sisters Judy Gilbert, and Nancy Hargett, children, Leonard Pheobus and his wife Teri, Greg Pheobus, Randy Pheobus, Wes Pheobus, and his wife Carol. Grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, Brandi, Brittney, and Carley. and great grandchildren, James, Gailah, Oliver and Bruce.

Viewing will be at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd, Damascus, MD 20872 on Monday October 31st at 10:00 AM and burial at Mt Olivet Cemetery, 515 S Market St, Frederick, MD 21701, the same day at Noon.
