Betty J. Payne Obituary

Betty Jean Payne, 79, of Germantown, MD passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 12th, 2024.


Born on December 1st, 1944, in Bethesda, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Stang. Betty was the second child out of four children, late Joyce Castro, late Martin Joseph Stang, Jr., and is survived by her loving little sister, Joanne Keyser.


Betty retired from her career at Montgomery County Public Schools in 2018 after 40 plus years of service.


Betty had many titles: Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandma.


She has been reunited with her loving late husband, Norman Payne.


Survived by her Children: Christine Payne, Jennifer Andrews, Jeannette Zelaya, and the late Charles Payne.


Son-in-laws: Kriston Myers, Louis Andrews, and Mario Zelaya.


17 Grandchildren: Alissa Payne, Anthony Andrews, Vanessa Zelaya, Arron Payne, Devin Andrews, Mario Zelaya, Veronica Zelaya, Corey Andrews, Delano Myers, Jessica Zelaya, Christina Myers, Marcos Zelaya, Kayla Myers, Zaya Andrews, Quintin Andrews, Jaziah Andrews, and Kriston Myers Jr.


16 Great grandchildren: Corduroy Andrews, Adrian Payne, Julian Payne, Darcy Andrews, Di’Angelo Cook, Aleyna Payne, Delante Andrews, Camden Andrews, Reya Cook, Genesis Torres, Ariyah Payne, Nora Andrews, Yesenia Cook, Serenity Torres, Eli Andrews, and Adrian Cruz.


Betty’s family will receive friends at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road Damascus, MD on Tuesday, October 15th from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:30am at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Parklawn Cemetery, 12899 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853.


Betty was the rock and glue to her family. She will be deeply missed and is forever in our hearts.
