Woodrow Sherman Obituary

Woodrow Vaughn Sherman, 57, of Monrovia, Maryland, husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away suddenly Monday, October 29, 2018.   Woody will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Vicki, sons, Joshua (wife, Laura) and Nathan (wife, Kate), daughters, Bethany and Rebekah, as well as his parents, Vaughn and Sandra, and brother, Steve.  Fond memories of his quick wit and distinctive sense of humor will be shared with granddaughters Sephira, Zoe, and Abigail.

During and after a career in radio, Woody also lent his recognizable voice and audio technician talents to multiple churches.  He narrated the “Living Nativity” in Hagerstown, MD and the Christmas & Easter cantatas at Providence United Methodist Church in Kemptown, MD.  Even after years of physical distance from the congregation, he dedicated much time and effort toward maintaining an e-mail “Prayer Chain” list for the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene.

In lieu of flowers, in recognition of Woody’s personal connections and dedication to furthering awareness of and assistance for those struggling with mental health concerns, the family requests that donations be made to the Frederick County Mental Health Association.

A memorial service in Woody’s honor will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 3, at the Providence United Methodist Church, 3716 Kemptown Church Road, Monrovia, Md. 21770, to be followed immediately by a luncheon in the church social hall.
