Ralph Bryan Cayton of Mt. Airy, MD, was born on June 5, 1948, and passed peacefully on September 11, 2019.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Patty Cayton (nee Everett); a daughter Laura Anne May, her husband Glen, and their children Becca, Logan, and Blake; a son Kirby Cayton; and a sister Linda, her husband Jerry, and their children Greg and Ashley. He was predeceased by his daughter Heather Marie Cayton, his mother Georgia, and his father Dalton.
Ralph and his sister Linda grew up in the Wheaton, MD, area. He attended Wheaton High School, graduating in 1967. Like many people of his generation, he entered the work force at an early age. He eventually worked the telephone company (Chesapeake & Potomac (C&P), Bell Atlantic, and Verizon) for 35 years. He started his career as a lineman and eventually became a lineman foreman.
Ralph thoroughly enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was an outdoorsman at heart and loved sharing his knowledge and insights on life with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and dad who had an intense love for his wife and children.
There will be a viewing at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus on Saturday, September 21, from 12–2 p.m. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m., after which, if time permits, the viewing will resume. A post-funeral gathering will take place at the Cayton home in Mt. Airy. Burial will be at a later date.
