George E. Ecker, 65 formerly of Damascus, MD passed away peacefully in his sleep, Friday December 29, 2017 at his homein Union Bridge, MD.

Born April 5, 1952 in Olney, MD, he was the oldest of six siblings and the son of the late George H. Ecker and Grace McGraw Ecker.

Mr. Ecker enjoyed going to auctions for those special finds and checking in with family as much as possible. Christmas was his favorite time of year where good food and conversation were plentiful. He was a jack of all trades that could do anything he set his mind to, and put those skills to use helping as many as he could. He also enjoyed many outings and events at American Legion Post 191 where he was a SAL member for many years.

He is survived by three children: Marnie Goodrich and husband Fred, of Severna Park; Wade Ecker and wife Lara, of Smithsburg; Brandy Reed and husband John; nine grandchildren Brittany Harvey and husband Alex; Travis Harvey; Dylan

Smoot; Lucy Goodrich; Jonah Ecker; Rowan Ecker; Isla Ecker; Jacob Wolfe; Dustin Norris and one great grandchild Aiden Smoot.

He is also survived by five siblings: Diane Lowe, of Mt. Airy; Patricia Lowe and husband Alvie, of Mt. Airy; Gary and wife Noreen, of Bradenton, FL; Anna Grimes and husband Sam, of Mt. Airy; and Carol Ecker, of Herndon, VA.

Friends and family may call Sunday, January 7, 2018 for a 1PM Memorial Service at American Legion Post 191, 801 Prospect RD, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
