Betty J. Goad Abbott, 79, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born June 4, 1939 In Montgomery County, Md., a daughter of the late Harry and Effie Payne Lee.
She raised her three sons in the Laytonsville area until 2000 when they moved to Frederick. She retired after over 20 years with the Montgomery County Public School System as cafeteria manager.
Betty had great faith and was later baptized at the First Baptist Church of Green Valley, in Monrovia. Her family was most important to her and she loved them all deeply, including her fur-babies : Muffin, Littles and most recently Buddy. Betty’s love for baking was a blessing to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her home-made from scratch yeast rolls and Christmas time snicker doodles. She enjoyed playing bingo, and going to Charles Town Races and Slots with her sisters. Most of all she was passionate about watching U.F.C. Fights with her family.
She is survived by her three sons: Robert Goad Jr. of Frederick; Russell (Gail) Goad of Damascus; Richard (Anita) Goad of Boonsboro. Three sisters:
Dorothy Cowan of Frederick; Ruby (Robert) Hood of Gettysburg, and Ethel Collier of Frederick. Five grandchildren: Bobby, Nikki, Jake, Max, and Bradley. Four great grandchildren: Evan, Mia, Carlos and Aurora; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Goad in 1967; sister’s Mary Mobley, Emma Shelton, Margaret Betteker and a brother Mervin Lee.
Friends and family will gather Monday, August 27, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral services begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private.
