Mary Lou Leishear

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Leishear, a beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, friend, and cherished member of the Damascus community.  Mary Lou, age 76, passed in her home on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

 Mary Lou was born on July 27, 1947 in Maryland and lived her entire life in Damascus.  She was raised by devoted parents, William Robert and Mary Louise Mullinix, attending Damascus High School and graduating with the class of 1965.  After high school, she went to work briefly at the Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown before raising a family.  She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, and is survived by her two daughters, Robin Skinner (Chris) of Damascus and Cheryl Beasley (Lance) of Greenbelt.   She was very proud of her two grandsons, Logan and Lincoln Beasley, who loved spending time with their ‘Gran-Lou’.

Mary Lou was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church and served in the church in many ways, including teaching Sunday School and volunteering at the Harwood House Thrift Shop.  She also volunteered with Damascus HELP regularly to support those in need.  Living in the same town for her entire life, she maintained many life-long friendships and enjoyed visiting with and talking to others.  She loved reading books and nurtured a love of

reading and education in her children and grandchildren.  Mary Lou appreciated food, enjoyed cooking for her family, and was always willing to try new and interesting recipes.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 11, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD 20872. The funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, April 12 at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church Street, Damascus, MD 20872.  Interment will follow in Damascus Methodist Cemetery.
