Timothy Paul “Timmy” Harner, 60,  of Monrovia, Maryland passed away at home after a lengthy battle with cancer on August 5, 2016.  He was born on May 8, 1956 in Olney, Maryland to the late Russell E. “Gene” Harner, Sr. and Jeannie Kessell Harner-Roswell.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 34 years, Martie Marshall Harner and survived by his dog Scooter.

Timmy is survived by his mother, Jeannie Kessell Harner-Roswell, brother, Rusty Harner (Debbie) and sister, Cindy McCathran (Bill).  In addition to his siblings, he is survived by niece Moya Harner (Doug and daughter Bailee) and nephew Chase Harner.

Also surviving is Martie’s son Wade King, Jr. (Lisa) children Patricia, Justin (Mindy), Dale and Mary. In addition he leaves sisters-in-law Nancy Miller, Donna Nail and Sherrie Faber (Dane) and brother-in-law Vincent Marshall.

Timmy has a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles and many cousins, as well as a large group of good friends.

He graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1974 and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  After, high school Timmy studied horse shoeing in Oklahoma, then welding for several years before becoming a self-employed Master Certified Contractor locally for over 25 years.   Timmy was such a perfectionist with his carpentry skills which enhanced the beauty of many homes inside and outside.

Timmy valued family and traditions.  For the annual Kessell Christmas party, he and Martie baked  hundreds of homemade rolls each year as well as personalized and displayed over 50 Christmas stockings to hold cards for each family member.  Timmy was a friend to all and would go out of his way to assist a family or friend in need.  Timmy valued family so much that he purchased his grandparent’s home and renovated it to become a beautiful home for him and Martie. His extended family appreciated the loving care he showed with the house and keeping his grandparents memories alive.

He enjoyed time at home in the garden, as well as spending day trips to flea markets to search for special items he loved.

The family would like to thank his doctors, nurses and the many staff members for their generous support and loving care.

The family will receive friends at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home in Damascus, Maryland on Wednesday, August 10  from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held the next day at Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821A Green Valley Road, Monrovia, Maryland, viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service following at 11:00 a.m., burial Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bush Creek.
