Martha Jean Shreffler, 89, of Damascus, MD was called home to heaven on June 3, 2017.

Jean was born in Butler, PA on February 23, 1928 to Ralph and Rosalia Kappeler Heinzer. She grew up in Oil City, PA where she graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1946.

Jean married her husband, Don Shreffler on October 14, 1950; soon after the couple moved to Damascus, MD to start a family.

Jean was a homemaker and worked as a school bus driver for Montgomery County for 25 years. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters. Jean was a kind and gentle soul who inspired others with her selfless contributions to the community, miraculous gardening ability, and deep faith in God.

Jean is lovingly remembered by her children, Donnie Shreffler and Theresa (Shreffler) Kidwell, son-in-law, Bruce Kidwell; grandchildren, Hilary, Brent and Trevor Kidwell, Jena Kidwell and Matt Melton; great-grandson, Peyton Melton of Germantown, MD; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Helen Heinzer of Oil City, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean will be greeted in heaven by those who passed before her, including her husband, Don Shreffler; her parents, Rose and Ralph Heinzer; siblings, Ralph “Sonny” Heinzer Jr., James Heinzer, Nancy Deemer and brother-in-law, Charles Deemer.

 The family will welcome friends for visitation at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD on Wednesday, June 7 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Her funeral service will be at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9250 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD on Thursday, June 8 at 11am, interment to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD.

Jean was an amazing, generous, and easy to love woman, who touched many lives. She is dearly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
