KENNETH G. PETRIE
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the death of Kenneth Petrie, wonderful and loving husband, father, and brother, who passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center on July 20, 2017, after a brief struggle with lung cancer.
Mr. Petrie attended Virginia Military Institute and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in fine arts. He began his career as a graphic artist for the Montgomery County Board of Education, where he worked for eighteen years. Later he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a painter. He specialized in landscapes and was a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, the Kent Island Federation of Arts, and the Working Artists Forum. Ken was a dedicated cyclist and enthusiastically followed the Tour de France and related competitions. He enjoyed bluegrass music, played the guitar and was a Civil War history buff. He prized family and friends and made lasting connections wherever he went.
Mr. Petrie resided in Queenstown, Maryland. Born on July 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Naomi and Graham Petrie. He is survived by his wife, Loralyn Andersen-Petrie, his son, Michael Petrie, and his sister, Susan Petrie.
Friends will be received at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus, Maryland, on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
