Frances W. Burlas

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances W. Burlas announces her passing after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the age of 88.

Fran was preceded in death by husband Louis J. Burlas Jr. in 1992. She is survived by three sons; Louis J. Burlas III and wife Nancy, Edward D. Burlas, Michael J. Burlas and his partner Susan L. Harte. Four grandchildren; Elisabeth Nelson and husband Marc, Brian Burlas and his partner Alanna Richard, Theresa Henn and husband Nick, and John Burlas. Five great grandchildren; Gloria, Robert, and Henry Nelson and Caroline Henn.

Fran was a long time resident of Damascus. She recently moved to Mount Airy in 2016. She loved the beach and spent many summers in Ocean City, Maryland. Fran retired from BNAC in 1978, then went on to work at the Damascus High School. Fran was involved in many clubs and charities in Damascus including the Lions Club, the Historical Society, the Senior Center, and the Travel Club. She was a supporter of the Thor Team Inc. in Damascus. She was one of the Grand Marshall in the 2014 Damascus Day Parade.

Fran loved to travel, traveling to many different places in her lifetime including, Australia, Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. She loved her family, her many friends who were like family and will be missed by all who knew her. Her exceptional fried chicken will be missed as well!

Visitation will take place at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday April 16, 2018

A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 17. The burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Damascus Lions Club, 24816 Nickelby Drive, Damascus, MD 20872 or Thor Teams Inc., 10820 Bellehaven Blvd., MD 20872.
