Dr. Edgar H. Adams of Clarksburg, Maryland passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 10, 2016. He was born on December 10, 1940 in Meriden, Connecticut to the late Everett and Doris Adams. He and his wife Leslie Adams were married on August 21, 1965.

Edgar earned a BS in Pharmacy from Fordham University, an MS in Pharmacology from Purdue University and a doctorate (Sc.D) in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins University. He spent 23 years in the Uniformed Public Health Service at the national Institutes on Drug Abuse as the Director of the Division of Epidemiology and Prevention Research. He was an internationally recognized authority and consultant on epidemiology and drug abuse policy. Edgar loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer, biker and kayaker.

Surviving him are his wife Leslie Adams; his son Thomas Adams daughter in-law Havalynn Adams and their children, Samuel Adams, Abigail Adams, and Rachel Adams; his son William Adams daughter in-law Christine Adams and their children Andrew Adams and Kelly Adams. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Adams but is survived by his children Michael Adams Jr., Gavin Adams and Liberty Kate Adams; He is survived by his brother Everett Adams and preceded in death by his sister Patty Leonardo; he is survived by many nieces’ nephews and extended family.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 14, at Molesworth William Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road Damascus, Maryland. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday November 15 at Saint Paul Catholic Church, 9204 Damascus Road (www.StPaulDamascus.org).

Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
