It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Myers King, 73, of Damascus, Maryland.  She passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016 at Potomac Valley Nursing and Wellness Center in Rockville. Born June 2, 1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee she was a daughter of the late Richard II, and Sara Nell Myers.

Alice attended Bearden High School, then went on to study at the University of Tennessee.  There she met and married John MacDonald King of Damascus, Maryland.  They moved to Damascus where they eventually built a house on Long Corner Road. They had three children, and Alice continued her education, graduating from Hood College as a Medical Technologist.  After working briefly at Sibley Hospital, she joined her husband’s law firm as the office manager, and worked there until he suddenly passed away in 1996.  In 1997 she met George Moy at a Bereavement group and they were married in 2002.

Alice is survived by her husband George Moy; children Mark King, Bryan King and Sara Sines; grandchildren:  Grace, John, Ivy Audrey, Faith, Hope, Xavier, Charity, Bridgette and Derek and a brother Dr. Richard Myers III and family.

Friends may call 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13 at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church Street, Damascus, Maryland 20872.  Rev. David Cooney will officiate.

Following the interment a luncheon will be served in the church dining hall to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions in her name to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

As many of you know, Alice was a special person to us all.  Her peaceful passing was a blessing that ended a disease which made it such a difficult final journey for her and for all who cared for her. She will be missed more than words can express.
